... to hear?
Using the 'Comments' link below this message, tell us what you want to hear on Radio Midrand, but before you answer, give thought to the following:
Since day one, Radio Midrand has, and continues to invite the community to contribute to its 'talk' content. An open invitation exists to charities and non-profit organizations to promote their cause/s free on air. Business has been made the same offer subject to the local advertising rates. We have for some days now been broadcasting the invitation to listeners to visit this blog and tell us what they would like to hear.
Do you have something of interest to tell Midrand?
Music? What will make Radio Midrand different to other stations? At present, Radio Midrand has adopted a primarily 'Classic Rock' format whilst adhering to more than the 40% SA local music content as required by law. This format has been taken due to the lack of classic rock songs played on both commercial and other community stations. Yet here too, our local music content is a little outdated, so where are the new artists? Here is a station offering YOU a platform.
It's virtually impossible to please to all the people all the time and there are already so many 'youth' appeal and 'adult contemporary' radio stations. So what do you want that will make 93.8FM different to the rest?
It's worth repeating that as a non-profit organization whose sole aim is to serve the people of this area, Radio Midrand can only survive on input from its community, so again, what do you want to hear? (Remember, click on 'Comments' below)

Hi Guys
I do understand your point towards the music being broadcast, but also take it into concideration that there is alot of youth that want to hear the latest tune and mixes that comes out, and we dont want to have to listen to another station to hear that, we want Radio Midrand to play those hits, as we want to continue supporting this station. We also want to hear solid gold classics, like the carpenters, bee-gees,simon and garfunkel, if you catch my drift. Allow a certain timeslot to play those beats. whether its morning or evening, make it a R&B session, hip-hop is BIG especially in Midrand High school, ask the youth and they will tell you they choose Hip-hop over any beat, its what drives them
Hi Anonymous - Your comments make perfect sense and are duly noted. Good food for thought and will definitely be considered. Many thanks for taking the time to write.
I think radio midrand is a great idea and as journalism student I would like to have some input if ganted the opportunity.I can provide a youthful input in terms of music and other contet. I understand what people mean when they speak about the music, right now it only caters for a specific target market (those who are familiar with rock music)Im always tuned in but hardly relate to anything yet.
Ps: Scott when can I expect a reply regarding the email I sent u?

Hi everybody!
I think the station and music selection is great. Pity you get lost at about Edenvale.... (get saving for bigger transmitters!). Only gripe I have is the quality of the newsreaders - sorry guys, you just don't hack it.....
Hi everybody
Great station,LOVE the music!!
As much 80's classics as you can!!!
Less Jazz & Blues,it's very depressing!!Especially at work all day!
Oldies like you currently play everyday is great!Keep it up!
How about some Afkrikaans hits!?!?!
Quality of news & Sport readers
require some attention though.
Thanks
Lee
Unfortunately I can't agree with the person above. I listen to the station because I need a rock station where I can actually understand what the people are saying. Afrikaans people have Tuks and Kakaranda to cater for them. Let them have that and me have my little fortress on solitude in Radio Midrand. It's only fair I already can't listen in 1 day a week. Due to Zulu programming on a sunday.
Hi
Found your station accidentally yesterday and it is wonderful! I love the mix of soft rock and oldies. In my opinion you could pump up the rock a bit more. Great to have a station that is not just about the top20 being played over and over again.
Heather
Love it, Love it, Love it!!
I stumbled across Radio Midrand accidently about a week ago – can’t stop listening since!
Love the classic rock format you guys have, please don’t change a thing! I agree with the last comment – it truly is great to listen to a radio station that does not play “the top20 over and over again”!
Keep it up guys! :)
Found Radio Midrand accidently
As long as this music is being played, I am tuned in - change to the latest stuff and you lose me
Best thing since LM Radio

Hi Scott et al,
I enjoy the Classic Rock format (and yes, I know who the New Yardbirds were!). Keep it up and let me know if you ever want a knowledgable presenter (again). Cheers and good luck! Mike.
